Detect and measure group dynamics

PEOPLE AND ORGANIZATIONAL CULTURES

QUANTITATIVE INSTRUMENTS AND PREDICTIVE MODELS

FaberMeter® is a tool born from the experience in the field in the organizational, training and psycho-social interventions that FaberActive® has carried out over the years. Its peculiarity lies in the ability to "take relational photographs" with high precision and, time has shown it, also with a high degree of predictive reliability regarding group dynamics. In organizational contexts, through a sociometric analysis it is possible to know, understand and monitor the organization and the internal relational evolution of groups, detecting the position occupied by individuals within them. Briefly, the sociometric survey of FaberMeter® is made on the basis of the characteristics that people mutually recognize (leadership, communication, relational, operational, technical, etc.), thus defining the "social positioning" that each of them tends to cover specific dimensions in one's own organizational context and at a given moment.

This, differently from the typical self-administered assessments (but normally in a complementary way), allows to overcome the bias of the "social desirability" of the responding subject, bringing out "elements of truth" of his performance, inserted in a specific group. For example, this allows us to highlight not so much the leadership skills of an individual, rather as his leadership skills are recognized and appreciated by the team in which he is inserted. The truth in the relational sphere therefore becomes a social fact, collectively recognized in a particular setting, the stage. FaberMeter® detects and measures this reality.

Measure the relational network and support the people’s involvement and engagement

The sociometric analysis carried out with FaberMeter® is based on an approach that focuses on the relationships that exist between different actors or between interconnected systems, based on a premise, that is a company and its relative organizational culture, as a complex structure of social relationship, can be studied as a system in its own right, thus distinguishing itself from the more traditional methods of social research, which deal with analyzing individual attributes. Observing and collecting information and data relating to intra and inter-group dynamics, allows to elaborate effective management choices and to give empirical and statistical relevance to the relational trend of people and the climate created between them, highlighting who is "at the center" or “on the periphery” of the social dynamics of the group.

Evolution proposed by FaberMeter® compared to the conceptualization proposed by Moreno's Sociogram, concerns the expansion of the observable dimensions, in particular after a moment of group work carried out with active methods and within a psycho-socio-dramatic frame of reference. The participating subjects, gathered in a suitably dedicated setting (the "stage of events") in which, through special management "directions", the relational qualities and characteristics of individuals and their group interaction are highlighted. These training protocols can be considered real "training and relational engineering itineraries". Real management directions designed to make specific relational situations happen, in which not only the trainer observes the events, but the whole group of participants is in turn both witness / observer but also actor / protagonist. This particular situation intervenes on the “relational current”, made up of communicative, emotional-affective channels, which is present in the reality of the group.

Finally, a purpose-built questionnaire allows you to collect the preferences of individuals towards the choice and recognition of specific variables in the behavior of their colleagues. This data collection empirically returns the shape of the interactional dynamics between people, creating a precise Organizational Network Analysis, very useful for developing empowerment programs aimed at supporting the relational satisfaction of individuals and the entire organization. Sociometric data, if correlated to other information regarding the "Key Performance Indicators", can offer not only the possibility of developing management models capable of supporting rewarding, professional growth plans and therefore of affecting the greater production capacity of the organization, but it encourages people's well-being by allowing them a greater relational and self-awareness.

FaberMeter®: practical elements

A central role in the FaberMeter® is the ease in which it is possible to elaborate and manage the methodological structure of the questionnaires. It is possible to choose the appropriate Items to detect the Variables necessary for sociometric surveys. It is also possible, by selecting the questions, to turn on or off the related graphs, observing the progress of the choices made by the participants based on the dimensions that you want to represent in the graphs. Then the single selection of a variable will show the position of each participant with respect to it, but by activating more variables, aggregate evaluations can be made.

Analysis of Variables in aggregate mode:

§ Leadership;

§ Relational Skills;

§ Technical and Operational Skills

§ Vision skills;

§ etc.

The graphs represent a very practical way of restoring the choices made by the subjects, showing what position each one occupies in the relational plot of the group with respect to the criteria and Variables chosen.

FaberMeter® also returns a data matrix, which can also be used on other platforms that can process data for the most varied statistical purposes, such as the comparison with KPIs of the organizations to which they belong.
